What do we actually remember? ❤️🍫

Today was one of those days when two kids, some chocolate, and colorful sprinkles are all it takes to turn a kitchen completely upside down.

We baked a chocolate cake. Heart-shaped, of course.

With lots and lots of chocolate.

With colorful sprinkles.

With smileys.

And—as is often the case with kids—with a good dose of chaos.

After that, the kitchen didn't look very tidy anymore.

In between, there was laughter, discussion, spills, and then they carried on.

And before we knew it, this heart-shaped cake was right in front of us.

Suddenly, a thought occurred to me:

What do we actually remember?

The perfectly tidy kitchen?

The fact that everything went smoothly?

Or that afternoon we spent together, with chocolate on our fingers, colorful sprinkles on the table, and two children proudly admiring the cake they’d decorated themselves?

I think we rarely remember perfection.

We remember feelings.

To sharing a laugh.

Small rituals.

Moments when we were just together.

Maybe sometimes we spend far too much energy trying to do everything right.

Yet the most valuable things often arise precisely where life isn't perfect.

Between chocolate, colorful sprinkles, and a little bit of chaos.

That's why, when I look at this cake today, I see more than just a cake.

I see us spending time together.

I see closeness.

I see memories that we are creating right now.

And I hope that the kids won't remember later whether the kitchen was tidy.

But rather on how we laughed, baked, and celebrated life together.

Because that's exactly what remains.

❤️

So here's my question for you:

What little moments do you think you'll really remember in a few years?

Perhaps it is precisely those that seem completely unremarkable today.
