Why is silence sometimes so hard for us? 🌅
I love sunsets.
Not because they're spectacular.
But because they remind me every time that life goes on even without my involvement.
That evening, I was just standing by the water.
I watched as the sun slowly disappeared behind the horizon.
The longer I stood there, the more I realized how hard silence can actually be for us sometimes.
Everything around me grew quieter.
Except for my head.
No sooner had things quieted down than he began planning for the next day.
Thinking about things I still wanted to get done.
Focusing on everything—except this one moment.
And that's exactly what I've noticed—not just in myself.
But also with many of the people I have the privilege of supporting.
We long for peace and quiet.
And when it's there, we often find it surprisingly hard to just put up with it.
Maybe because we're used to being constantly busy.
To organize.
To plan.
To work.
I've been there, too.
And that's exactly why I'm always drawn back to the water.
Not because I'm looking for answers there.
But because there I'm learning again to just be present.
Without having to do anything.
Without having to achieve anything.
Just for a moment.
The longer I looked out at the water that evening, the calmer not only the lake became.
A sense of calm slowly came over me, too.
And it was precisely in that silence that I realized just how good it actually is for me.
Maybe we don't always have to keep running to get closer to ourselves.
Maybe sometimes it's enough to just stop and stand still.
So here's my question for you:
When was the last time you allowed yourself to just sit there, watch, and not have to do anything?
Maybe that's not where the next task is waiting.
Rather, it's a brief moment when you reconnect with yourself.
