Values & purpose - why they carry more weight than any goal
We all have goals.
We want to successfully implement projects, reach milestones and tick off to-do lists.
And yet there comes a time when you ask yourself:
👉 What is it all for?
I remember times in my life when I gave my all - in relationships, at work, in roles that demanded a lot from me. To the outside world, it seemed successful. And yet, in the end, I was often left with a feeling of emptiness.
Goals that don't work
I have learned that goals alone are not enough.
You can achieve a goal - and still be dissatisfied.
Because goals are like signposts: they point the way, but they don't answer the question of why we are on the road in the first place.
Values as an inner compass
During my coaching training, I took a conscious look for the first time:
What is really important to me?
Stating my values clearly was a turning point.
Suddenly I understood why I felt small and exhausted in some situations - and full of strength in others.
It wasn't down to the circumstances.
It depended on whether I was living in line with my values or not.
For me, they are above all:
✨ Self-determination
✨ Freedom
✨ Appreciation
✨ Joie de vivre
When I act according to these values, my life feels meaningful.
Then even small steps give you strength.
And then goals are created that are not only "achieved", but also fulfilled.
Meaning is created through values
Sense is not a luxury.
Meaning is the source that sustains us - especially in challenging times.
It arises when we connect with what is really important to us.
And he gives us resilience and balance because he always leads us back:
to ourselves, to clarity, to strength.
My invitation
Perhaps you would like to take a moment and ask yourself:
What values sustain you in your life?
Which ones are often neglected in everyday life?
How would it feel to give them more space?
✨ Meaning does not come from more goals. Meaning is created when we live our values.
