When goals alone are not enough: The key to sustainable growth lies in your values

Do you know this? You set yourself goals, make a firm commitment, this time it works - and yet you get stuck in old patterns. I felt the same way for a long time. Until I discovered that the key to real change lies deeper: in our personal values.

As a coach, I was not only able to accompany others on their journey, but also experience for myself how powerful it is when we recognize our true values. In my case, it was "self-determination" and "inner peace" - values that I wasn't even aware of before. It was only when I understood that these values were my inner compass that something began to change.

The difference between goals and values

Imagine you want to get ahead professionally. A classic goal would perhaps be a promotion or a career leap. But why do you actually want that? Is it for recognition? For security? Freedom to make your own decisions?

It's like a triad:

VALUE → CLARITY → ENERGY → ACTION

Your personal values compass

Each of us has our own set of values. On my personal journey, I encountered topics such as:

  • The search for the meaning of life

  • Dealing with fear of loss

  • The balance between family and career

  • Finding joie de vivre and lightness

What makes your life worth living? What gives you stability in difficult times? These questions lead us to our values - and therefore to our inner navigation system.
